Biodiversity and Gender for Sustainable Development provides unprecedented insight into the two subject areas of biodiversity and gender. It looks at the subjects from the perspectives of a diverse group of country jurisdictions in Anglophone Sub-Saharan Africa.

These various perspectives consider the Convention on Biological Diversity, which recognizes “the vital importance that women play in the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity and the need for the full participation of women at all levels of policy-making and implementation for biological diversity conservation.” This is notwithstanding the fact that both women and men have roles, rights, responsibilities
and reciprocities that can be deployed to be mutually beneficial in ensuring equitable decision-making for the sustainable utilization of biodiversity resources.

The book is analytic and integrative in approach, instructive in presentation and perspective-specific on policy-related aspects of biodiversity and gender. It is targeted at environmentalists, natural resource scientists and environmental practitioners, including planners and policymakers on national environmental issues.
